
Daniel Lapidus
Daniel Lapidus has nearly two decades of experience leading programs and guiding efforts at the intersection between food security, climate, and the environment in both high and low resource settings. As the Director of Food and Agriculture at RTI, he leads research and analytical efforts to inform program implementation in sustainable agriculture and food systems. As RTI’s climate liaison, he leads RTI’s Center for Climate Solutions, coordinating and representing RTI on institute-wide climate issues and capabilities. Daniel's technical work spans several areas, including socioeconomic analyses, technology valuation, geospatial analytics, and monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL). An area of specific focus is on valuing the impact of using improved management practices and tools to improve sustainability in agriculture and improving food security. Before joining RTI, he worked at the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service (USDA/FAS), where he led multi-country capacity-building initiatives focused on the intersection between agriculture and climate change. He has authored more than a dozen studies in peer reviewed journals and has led and provided technical expertise to projects funded by governments, private foundations, and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs). He has worked in 20 countries and is fluent in Spanish.
