Packaging: Navigating compliance, performance, and sustainability

As global regulations evolve, Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) is reshaping how companies manage packaging across the value chain. This workshop will explore the critical role of EPR compliance in packaging strategy—highlighting how businesses can proactively respond to regulatory requirements while maintaining performance and advancing sustainability goals. Attendees will gain insights into emerging EPR frameworks, data gathering and reporting obligations, and the operational capabilities needed to ensure compliance across jurisdictions. We’ll also examine how EPR intersects with packaging design, material choices, and circularity, offering practical guidance for navigating this complex and rapidly changing landscape. Together with workshop participants, we will explore how companies are approaching EPR, discuss choices and tradeoffs, and share real-world learning from the first rounds of reporting.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Understand the evolving landscape of EPR and its implications for packaging compliance across key global markets.
  2. Identify the data, systems, and operational capabilities required to meet EPR reporting obligations and manage compliance risks effectively.
  3. Explore strategies to align packaging design and material choices with EPR requirements while supporting performance and sustainability goals.
