Elissa Foster
Dr. Elissa Foster is the Head of Sustainability at Who Gives A Crap, where she leads the integration of sustainable thinking across the company’s products and operations. Since joining the team in May 2022, Elissa has been focused on reducing the environmental impact of everything from materials to manufacturing - helping the brand deliver on its mission to do good for people and the planet. Before Who Gives A Crap, Elissa spent 17 years at Patagonia, most recently as Head of Product Environmental Impact, where she led groundbreaking work on sustainable materials and lifecycle innovation. She also served for six years on the NOAA National Marine Sanctuary System Business Advisory Council, helping shape strategies for ocean protection in collaboration with public and private sector leaders. Elissa holds a BS in Zoology from UC Santa Barbara, a Master’s in Environmental Science and Management from UCSB’s Bren School, and a Doctorate in Environmental Science and Engineering from UCLA, where she also earned a Leader in Sustainability Certificate. She lives with her family in Ventura, California, where she’s happiest near the ocean.
