Emily Hunt Turner is a civil rights attorney with a background in architecture, law, and public policy. In 2016, Emily founded All Square — a nonprofit gourmet grilled cheese restaurant in Minneapolis that aims to both hire and empower individuals with criminal records. The restaurant is slated to open in August of 2017.
Prior to All Square, Emily spent five years as an attorney for the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) working on issues of prisoner reentry, fair housing, and housing segregation. She graduated from Syracuse University’s School of Architecture with outstanding thesis honors in 2007 and went on to receive a Masters of Public Policy from Georgia state in 2009 and her Juris Doctor from Loyola University in New Orleans in 2012.
Emily has committed her career to not only discussing but also providing grassroots solutions to the systemic divides that she believes are crippling communities across the country. When she’s working on All Square, you can find her on the ice as a coach for the Minneapolis girls high school varsity hockey team.
