Member Exclusive – Responding to the New Norm

Member Exclusive

Responding to the New Norm is a session that will invite leaders from several NGOs to provide corporate members from Sustainable Brands with insights on how they’re navigating recent administrative changes in the U.S and working to build new models for engagement.

As new executive orders and federal deregulations reshape the landscape and shift greater accountability to the private sector, these leaders will share:

  • If and how their strategies for corporate engagement are evolving,
  • What opportunities they see for collaboration to address economic, social and environmental challenges,
  • How they would like leading brands to be engaged, and
  • The support they are prepared to offer along the way.

SB Members will have the chance to learn insights from NGO leaders beginning with the Opening Panel facilitated by Mark Lee, Executive Director, SustainAbility, along with Ray Offenheiser, President, Oxfam America, Executive Director, EDF, Erica Bernal-Martinez, Deputy Executive Director, NALEO Educational Fund. Members will then participate in the conversation at one of three tables hosted by NGOs and discuss opportunities for engagement, collaboration and support:

First Round of Table Discussions

  1. Climate Change (Tom Murray, Vice President EDF + Business),
  2. Clean Water and Conservation (Marc Yaggi, Executive Director, Waterkeeper Alliance), or
  3. LGBTQ+ Equality (Marty Rouse, National Field Director, HRC)

Second Round of Table Discussions

  1. Immigration, (Erica Bernal-Martinez, Deputy Executive Director, NALEO Educational Fund)
  2. Poverty and Hunger (Ray Offenheiser, President, Oxfam America). or
  3. Forest Stewardship (Rolf Skar, Forest Campaign Director, Greenpeace)

We believe this session will benefit members by providing:

  • Unique insights into new priorities and plans that NGOs are forming,
  • An open exchange of ideas on how to work toward common goals, and
  • A forum to proactively surface opportunities for collaboration and next steps.
