Sustainability at
SB events
We’re committed to reducing the environmental impact of Sustainable Brands conferences by enlisting our community in the sustainable production of our events and improving our host communities’ sustainability initiatives and performance.
Driving the adoption of the SB Nine Sustainable Behaviors™ is at the center of how brands can align internally and with their consumers to drive good growth and close the sustainability intention-action gap.

Recommendations for Event Preparation
Here’s how you can help before coming on-site.
SB'24 Sustainability Partners
Carbon Offset and Water Restoration Partner
Carbon and Water use is balanced with Bonneville Environmental Foundation’s (BEF) carbon offsets and Water Restoration Certificates (WRCs). These certificates will balance the estimated carbon and water impacts from the Town & Country Resort for four days. Carbon offsets will be sourced from the Hudson HFC Reclamation Project. WRCs are sourced from the Colorado River Indian Tribes Project.
Food Waste Partner
SB is partnering with Copia to track our food donations throughout the event. We will be able to know exactly how much excess food was donated, rather than thrown away.
Carbon Offset Partner
Carbon emissions from the event, including attendee travel and venue operations at Town & Country Resort, will be offset by South Pole Group.
Climate Labeling Partner
SB has partnered with HowGood to provide transparency to our attendees about our menu’s carbon footprint. Each menu item at our event will be labeled with the item’s associated carbon footprint.
Community Action Partner
SB is partnering with Hotels for Trees, a non-profit sustainability foundation that is aiming to change the world, and specifically the hospitality industry a little greener, one tree at a time. Each time a hotel guest opts out of housekeeping, a tree is planted in California.
Hotels organizing events, meetings and conferences are also able to help offset some of the carbon footprint associated with the event, as they offer to plant a tree for every attendee.
Plastic Waste Partner
Bring your hard-to-recycle empty beauty packaging to Ulta Beauty’s Beauty Dropoff bin! The packaging will be sent to Pact who aims to find the highest and best use for the material collected, keeping it out of landfill. Click here to see how it works!
Plastic Action Partner
SB is partnering with rePurpose Global’s Project Segara Kerthi, Balinese: Sacred Ocean located in Bali, Indonesia. The project works with small-scale waste collectors to recover ocean-bound plastic bags. The project trains local waste aggregators through an innovative franchise model, creating new income opportunities and safer working conditions. Recovering plastic through this project protects Bali’s incredible natural ecosystems, creates entrepreneurship opportunities for local workers, and recycles plastic.
Materials Sorting Partner
SB is partnering with Intuitive AI to improve recycling at SB’24 San Diego. Intuitive’s flagship product, Oscar Sort, is the world’s first AI recycling assistant and hybrid media publisher. Combining DOOH with sustainability, Oscar improves recycling accuracy up to 96%, increasing diversion rates, and reducing CO2 emissions while delivering billions of brand impressions.
Circular Lanyard Partner
SB is partnering with Debrand, North America’s leading textile sorter and next-life logistics provider, to supply lanyards designed with circularity in mind. Help keep your lanyard out of landfills by dropping yours off before you leave SB’24 into one of Debrand’s collection boxes. Once the event is over, all lanyards collected will be quality sorted and sanitized by Debrand for reuse at next year’s conference, and any damaged ones will go to their recycling partner, Eastman.
Sustainable Design Partner
SB has partnered with The Vomela Companies to elevate the event’s stage decor while still keeping sustainability at the forefront. The Vomela Companies use eco-friendly materials and have a focus on sustainability. The company is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, the Sustainable Forestry Initiative, the Sustainable Green Printing Partnership and other sustainability authorities.
