Valerie has been with Sustainable Brands since 2012, and her journey continues to develop her career and feed her spirit. Currently, Valerie serves as the Director of Culture & Resources for People, where her main priority is to empower others to do their best work, and make sure their experience at SB serves their journey in the best possible way. She believes in the power of listening, simplicity and excellence in design and execution, and bringing her passion for organization, personal growth and resilience into each and every part of her position.
Previously, Valerie was the Executive Producer of Sustainable Brands conferences, responsible for the team who produced SB’14, SB’15, London ’13, ’14, and New Metrics ’13 and ’14. Before moving to the Bay Area, Valerie served as the Program Director at the Mile High Business Alliance in Denver, CO and the Product Development Manager for Local Harvest Foods, all centered around bringing resilience to small businesses, and creating local food systems in underserved urban communities. Valerie has a BS in Sociology from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and an MS in Environmental Policy & Management from the University of Denver.
She spends her free time thinking up innovative ways to teach herself new things, doing yoga, crafting anything DIY, cooking & baking, enjoying good wine, and traveling. She lives with her husband and daughter in San Francisco, but will always be a Coloradan at heart.
