Sue Stephenson serves as Vice Chair of the Executive Committee for IMPACT 2030, a private sector led collaboration with the United Nations and other global stakeholders, that is focused on leveraging human capital investments through employee volunteer programs to directly and substantially contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Sue led The Ritz-Carlton corporate citizenship program, Community Footprints, from 2006 through March 2016. Reporting to the President & Chief Operations Officer she was charged with expanding and integrating Community Footprints into the company’s business strategy, operations and success metrics, through a series of multi-faceted initiatives focused on child well-being, hunger and poverty relief, and the environment. Sue spearheaded the development of Succeed Through Service, the award-winning skills-based volunteering and mentoring program that impacts students in under-served communities around the world; developed the “Serve With Purpose” skills-based volunteering branding for the company’s 40,000 employees; created Impact Experiences, providing a global platform for hotel group guests to incorporate social impact projects into their activities; and, since 2013, was active in the development of IMPACT 2030, with The Ritz-Carlton participating as the initiative’s first Founding Partner.
Sue joined The Ritz-Carlton in 1991, and from 2001 to 2006 held the position of Senior Vice President, Human Resources, providing leadership and strategic direction to the company’s human resources organization during a period of global expansion.
