Jessica Meyer moved from Chicago to Detroit in 2011 for the Americorps program City Year Detroit and never left. She’s dabbled in education, international human rights, counseling, farming, marketing, entrepreneurship, small business development, journalism, fresh food access, micro-lending, community engagement, neighborhood development, tactical urbanism, and peer-to-peer support. Empowering others is at the core of everything she does.
She is now the director of engagement for Human Scale Studio, an urban consultancy firm transforming urban planning and public space development by putting people first. When she isn’t working or volunteering, she spends time with her life partner Jeff, her mom Wendy, and her 3 black cats.
