SARA OTTO - BIOGRAPHYSara Otto, Nest’s Chief Supply Chain Officer, oversees the strategic partnerships and programmatic initiatives of the organization’s supply chain-related portfolio. In this role, she drives the strategy, development, and execution of Nest’s pioneering Ethical Handcraft Standard and comprehensive methodology program, as well as Nest’s other Global Solutions projects which aim to address common challenges faced by artisans globally such as wastewater management, providing living wages, and technology solutions for supply chain transparency. She leads research initiatives to bring critical visibility and transparency to informal supply chains. After residing in Varanasi, India, for 4 years consulting closely with artisans on the ground as part of Nest’s flagship project, she has gained a deep understanding of the specific needs and challenges that handworkers and informal workers face, enabling her to create effective, practical, and sustainable solutions for due diligence in the industry. Before that, Sara was a Small Enterprise Development Peace Corps Volunteer in Togo, assisting micro-enterprises and consulting local small businesses. Graduating from the State University of New York at Buffalo in Arts Management and Marketing, Sara blends her passion for art and business. Her career began at Righteous Babe Records, where she worked for 9 years, eventually managing the company’s performance and event venue. A dedicated photographer and traveler, Sara continues to explore the intersection of creativity, entrepreneurship, and social impact in her work and personal pursuits.
