TRACK: NATURE-FRIENDLY DESIGN PARADIGMS IN PRACTICE

The 'frugal' economy: Centering value propositions on the principles of biomimicry, regeneration AND localization

This session will reveal how the main principles of the emerging concept of a 'frugal' economy are centering value propositions – whether on the level of product development or entire business models – on the principles of biomimicry, regeneration AND localization at the same time. If you are a strategist, designer or innovator at heart who is relatively new to biomimicry, regeneration or local living economies, or perhaps just in need of new paradigm-shifting inspiration you may not have examined before, this is the opening-round session for you.

Learning outcomes:

  • Understand how to translate key principles of 'frugal' economy models into foundational pillars of a business value proposition
  • Assess which characteristics of products inspired by biomimicry, regeneration and localization are resonating most with various stakeholders, and which are not
  • Get tips on engaging and educating consumers, suppliers, and other stakeholders about the benefits of pivoting in the direction of biomimicry, regeneration and localization - ideally all at the same time!
