Local, Holistic Solutions to Getting Decarb Done
At the end of the day, companies need to develop decarbonization solutions that make sense on a local level. This stands true for large organizations and local farmers. In this session, we will hear from different stakeholders on the benefits and challenges of being a decarbonization pioneer.
AstraZeneca and Target look not just for more sustainable options, but for circular, holistic solutions where possible. During this session, both companies will share more about their sustainability commitments, given the options in their local community.
We will also hear from Peter Melnik of Bar-Way Farm in Deerfield, Massachusetts who has embraced sustainable farming practices early on and will share his journey to implement an anaerobic digester into his farm operations which now provides a low carbon fertilizer that has helped improve his crop yields.
Join this panel to hear these sustainability pioneers share the challenges, timelines, and texture of their journeys to decarbonize one facility and one community at a time.
- Understand the local impact and circularity of sending organic waste to or sourcing renewable energy from an on farm anaerobic digester.
- The values, benefits and challenges of being a decarbonization pioneer: Making the “right” choice is not easy, but it’s also not “punitive” - per Pascal Soriot, Global CEO of AstraZeneca
- What a “zero waste to landfill” commitment means to a local facility, given the options in their local community, and how industry leaders has risen to the challenge.
