Brian Mattingly

Director of Star Hill Farm Operations
Maker's Mark Distillery

Brian began overseeing production operations at Maker’s Mark Distillery in 1993, and quickly expanded his role to include Star Hill Farm’s agriculture, nature, and sustainability programs. Brian was raised on his family farm near the distillery and now operates his own farm consisting of Walnut trees, sheep, and poultry production. He spent 4 years co-oping with the Natural Resources Conservation Service and graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a B.S. in Soil Science and Natural Resources. Now in his 32nd year with Maker’s Mark, his role as Director of Star Hill Farm includes White Oak genetic research, innovation wheat breeding, producing estate grains, providing flavorful proteins and produce served in their restaurant and bar, and implementation of regenerative agriculture principles across the 1,200 acre estate farm. Brian also works directly with our local grain producers to support them in their own regenerative agriculture journey. When not out standing in the field, Brian enjoys spending time with his family, tinkering with antique tractors, and driving rusty jeeps.
