Brad Stevenson
Brad Stevenson is a lifelong activist, entrepreneur, and sustainability champion, bringing over 25 years of purpose-driven strategy experience to his role as CEO of Premiums for the Planet. He has coached, consulted, and led across diverse industries, including Fortune 20 multinationals, non-profits, small businesses, and startups. In 2018, Brad recognized the environmental impact of banking, and spearheaded a movement uniting advocacy groups, brands, influencers, and responsible banking leaders. He successfully shifted hundreds of millions of dollars of bank deposits from climate-conscious marquee brands – including Patagonia, Burton, REI, and Clif – away from fossil-heavy institutions. This initiative also birthed the 1% for the Planet personal checking account, empowering consumers to support environmental nonprofits through everyday spending. Brad’s latest endeavor, Premiums for the Planet, is a membership-based collective action movement. Inspired by models like 1% for the Planet and POW, it harnesses the collective insurance spend of climate-conscious companies. The goal is to motivate insurance carriers – the second largest money managers and one of the most impactful regulatory industries on Earth – towards more sustainable investing and underwriting practices that don’t undermine the climate efforts of Premiums for the Planet member companies. Brad’s lifelong commitment to advocacy, advisory work, and community leadership drives this impactful mission. Brad is also an explorer at heart. He has sailed across the Atlantic, biked unsupported through Southeast Asia, ridden a Royal Enfield through India, and kayaked the waters of Tonga. Fluent in Spanish, he has lived, worked, and traveled extensively in Europe, Asia, and the Americas. His passion for giving back has extended to being a Big Buddy, serving on boards of numerous community organizations, and 12 years volunteering with Mountain Rescue Aspen.
