Alexis Morgan Alexis leads WWF’s global efforts on water stewardship. This includes oversight on the Water Risk Filter (a leading tool exploring corporate water risk, mitigation and valuation), leading AWS engagement on behalf of WWF, supporting freshwater in standards, guiding thinking on the economics of water, developing the concept of context-based water targets, and linking Markets to Freshwater.
From 2010-2014, he helped to establish the Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) – specifically leading the development of a global water stewardship standard via a global stakeholder engagement exercise. Through WWF corporate partnerships, he regularly worked with Global 500 companies to address water risk in their operations and supply chains. Alexis has also been heavily involved in ISEAL, the UN Global Compact’s CEO Water Mandate, and has helped to shape the thinking on water disclosure via collaboration with CDP, GRI and SASB.
Previous to this, Alexis’ work with WWF involved engaging companies and civil society to address challenges related to water, energy, commodities, biodiversity and human wellbeing. he has worked extensively on conservation strategy & performance, and impact measures. He was also the lead author for the Environment Domain of the ground-breaking Canadian Index of Wellbeing, and developed mining and biodiversity initiatives for Rio Tinto Alcan and Vale Inco.
Alexis holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Western Ontario (Geography, Anthropology & Biology); an MSc from the University of Toronto (Urban hydro-ecology & climate change); and an MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University (Sustainability, non-profit & change management). he has also sat on the Board of the White Ribbon Campaign, an international movement to work with men to end violence against women, and currently sit on the AWS Board.
Alexis lives and works in Vancouver, Canada with his family where he recently completed building a “green” (ish) home.
