Matthew Potts

Dr. Matthew Potts has a broad, interdisciplinary background with formal training in mathematics, ecology, and economics, and more than two decades of experience working on quantitative aspects of temperate and tropical forest management. His current research focuses on natural pathways for carbon sequestration and the co-production by human and natural systems of ecosystem services. He recently served as a coordinating lead author on the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services Land Degradation and Restoration Assessment. He has a BS from the University of Michigan in mathematics and a PhD from Harvard University in applied mathematics.
