Senior Vice President, Global Corporate Responsibility — Bumble Bee Foods
Dr. Leslie Hushka leads Bubble Bee Seafood’s corporate sustainability programs. A recognized industry leader, the company established an Accelerator Fund in 2020 to ensure the health and abundance of tuna stocks, reduce the impact of fishing on other species, and remove plastics and other waste from the ocean.
Prior to joining Bumble Bee, Leslie worked at ExxonMobil for 23 years. As a seasoned sustainability professional, she has held various research, public and government affairs leadership positions within ExxonMobil’s Research, Chemical, Development and Production Companies, advancing priorities on a wide array of societal issues. She held management roles in Public & Government Affairs for several Upstream and Chemical companies, including specialty projects for the Corporate offices.
In these roles, Leslie was a coalition builder, whether at the local, state or national level, focused on creating collaborations that achieved results. Prior to these roles, she led programs in the company’s research organization with a focus on health and environmental public policy.
Leslie spearheaded efforts with a team comprised of multi-national companies in creating and building the Alliance to End Plastic Waste— a not-for-profit, cross value chain organization with a mission to eliminate plastic waste in the environment.
In 2018, Leslie was recognized as one of the Top 100 Corporate Social Responsibility Influence Leaders by Assent Compliance for her work to help others design and improve corporate programs. She is part of the GreenBiz Executive Network and Corporate EcoForum Networks and was nominated among leaders in the Sustainability field for the World Business Council for Sustainable Development’s 2019 Leading Women Awards. Leslie is a sustainability mentor for both the Boys Scouts of America and the Girls Scouts of the USA.
Leslie holds a Ph.D. in Pharmacology and Toxicology from Purdue University and is board certified by the American Board of Toxicology. A New Hampshire native, she and her husband, Dennet, live in The Woodlands, Texas. Her daughter, Annelise, is in a Ph.D. program at Harvard University and her son, Michael, is a sophomore at Brandeis University
