Tim McAloone

Co-Founder

 

Tim is one of the co-founders of essensus, full professor at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and a worldwide-recognized sustainability strategy expert.

He has been actively working in the fields of ecodesign, eco-innovation, product/service-systems and product development for the past 25 years, with a particular focus on sustainability-driven innovation, in close contact with industry. Tim has led numerous research projects and industry competency campaigns, with a strong focus on innovation strategy implementation and systematic product development improvement.

He has a broad international network, with close ties to companies and universities in particularly USA, Brazil, Japan and a large number of European countries. In 2011 Tim was guest professor at Stanford University, USA, where he had deep engagement with companies such as IBM, Google and IDEO. He is regularly invited as keynote speaker at international conferences and has authored over 200 publications, including books, industry guides and academic papers.

In his PhD degree, obtained from Cranfield University, UK in 1998, Tim wrote a thesis entitled “Industry Experiences of Environmentally Conscious Design Integration: An Exploratory Study”, which is a state-of-the-art document on organizational transition to ecodesign. His first degree is in Mechanical Engineering, from Manchester Metropolitan University in 1993. Selected companies, with whom Tim has collaborated via essensus includes: Steelcase, Grundfos, LEGO, Philips, Ford, Natura, Coloplast, Novo Nordisk.
