Michelle Waring
Michelle Waring is the Steward for Sustainability and Everyday Good at Tom’s of Maine. In her role she develops strategies to elevate sustainability and social impact for Tom's of Maine. Working cross-functionally with key stakeholders across Tom's and Colgate-Palmolive, she manages key strategic partnerships and initiatives with 3rd party validators and nonprofit organizations. In 2023, Michelle was named one of GreenBiz’s “10 Badass Women.” She has served as a judge for the Engage for Good Halo Awards, The Shorty Awards and the Anthem Awards.
Prior to joining Tom's of Maine, Michelle led the Communications Partnerships team at NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council) as the Director of Entertainment and Brand Partnerships. In her 7 years, she built strategic partnerships that led to increased brand visibility, issue awareness, advocacy, audience growth, and fundraising. Michelle started her nonprofit career at UNICEF USA. First, as the interim Director of Celebrity Relations, where she managed all of the celebrity ambassadors and campaigns, then as the Deputy Director of Corporate Partnerships. Before her work in the nonprofit sector, Michelle spent 10 years as a talent manager in the entertainment industry, representing actors in film, television, and theater. In her first role out of college, Michelle was an assistant at Robinson Lerer & Montgomery, now FGS Global, a strategic Communications firm.
Michelle earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Trinity College, CT and is pursuing her Masters in Sustainability at Harvard University Extension School. She currently resides in Portland, ME with her husband and 2 daughters.
