Shelby Rust Busó
Shelby is the Chief Sustainability Officer and Deputy Director (Climate Action & Climate Equity), Sustainability and Mobility Department for the City of San Diego. She leads the team’s work developing, implementing, and reporting on the City of San Diego’s Climate Action Plan. The team coordinates policy development and project management related to decarbonization of the built environment, access to clean and renewable energy, mobility & land use, circular economy and clean communities, resilient infrastructure and healthy ecosystems, and emerging climate actions.
Shelby has previously served as the Chief Resilience Officer for the City of Miami and the Chief Sustainability Officer for the City of Atlanta as well as a Director for the US Green Building Council. She holds a Juris Doctorate and Masters Degree of Environmental Policy from Vermont Law School and Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology, Environmental Studies, and Spanish from Wake Forest University in North Carolina.
