Michael E. Smith is an applied scientist and business professional whose accomplishments have spanned the academic, governmental, and commercial sectors. Currently, Michael serves as Principal Scientist at Adaptation Research, a strategy consultancy focused on developing brain-based insights into sustainable human behavior. Previously he served as Vice President of Consumer Neuroscience at the market leading research firm Nielsen, where he managed pro bono work with NGOs and consulted with global corporations on strategies for leveraging neuroscience to improve consumer engagement with advertising, branding, product development, and packaging. Michael earned a Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology from UCLA and an MBA from UC Berkeley.
