About Sammi
Sammi Bennett is an adventurous young woman fascinated by how humans interact with the natural world. This June, Sammi will graduate from from Santa Clara University with degrees in Environmental Studies and Psychology and a Musical Theater minor. Throughout her undergraduate career, Sammi has conducted research on how individuals engage in sustainable behaviors in Bolivia, has studied livable city infrastructure in Copenhagen, Denmark, and has conducted action research with a social enterprise based in East Africa. Recently, she has become inspired to tackle the challenge of food waste at Santa Clara University. She serves as President of SCU Food Recovery Network and co-created Taste the Waste, an app that alerts students about leftover food from on campus events with a group of fellow sustainability leaders. The goal of the app is to reduce carbon emissions and eliminate food waste for good. Sammi is thrilled to be at Sustainable Brands and is so thankful for this opportunity from Sambazon and the Ecology Center.
