About Lionel Bradford
Lionel Bradford is the President and Executive Director of The Greening of Detroit, a non-profit organization devoted to creating sustainable growth of a healthy urban community through trees, green spaces, food, education, training and job opportunities. Lionel holds a Bachelor’s degree in Urban Forestry from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Lionel began his professional career in 1997 as a Forestry Technician with the US Forest Service on the Jemez Springs National Forest in Jemez Springs, New Mexico. He joined the Greening of Detroit staff in 2010 where he started as Director of Workforce Development. He spearheaded the formation of the Greening’s Workforce Development Department and was soon promoted to Vice President of Operations in 2012. In 2017 he was appointed President and Executive Director of the Greening of Detroit where he oversees strategic planning, program development and management, staff supervision, grant writing and acquisition.
