Christine Baghdassarian

Senior IT Specialist

IBM

Christine Baghdassarian is a Senior IT Specialist with over 12 years at IBM Canada. In October 2017, Christine traveled to Senegal in Africa for 30 days to participate in IBM’s Corporate Services Corps. The Corporate Services Corps is an IBM program that provides pro bono consulting in emerging markets to address high-priority issues in the areas of education, health, and economic development.

During her time in Africa, Christine and two colleagues from IBM India and IBM Japan worked closely with locals from AMREF Health Africa, a small African-led not for profit whose mandate is to create lasting health change in Africa.

Christine and her IBM colleagues worked on one of AMREF Health Africa’s main strategic priorities – maternal and child health. They worked to assess and provide recommendations for an e-learning education platform that AMREF Health Africa provides for upgrading the skills of midwives and nurse, with the ultimate goal of contributing to reduced infant and maternal mortality.

Christine feels that the IBM Corporate Services Corps experience was an amazing leadership and growth opportunity and is delighted to share these experiences.

In her spare time, Christine volunteers time with the African Book Box Society, a Victoria based not for profit. She is also passionate about empowering, educating and encouraging girls and underprivileged youth in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math).
