About

About Sustainable Brands®

Sustainable Brands® is an international community of learning and action-focused on understanding and leveraging the role of brands in shaping a flourishing future. The Sustainable Brands® Conference is the first word on sustainability, brand and innovation professionals who come together from around the world to be inspired, engaged and equipped to succeed by building the better brands of tomorrow, while building a network of like-minded colleagues who can help.

As organisers, our goal is to amplify current leadership and success surrounding innovation for sustainability, to educate business leaders throughout an organisation about how they can contribute to a more sustainable brand, and to grow the market for business solutions that can help companies reduce environmental and social impact and play a more positive role in the lives of their stakeholders.

From Learning To Action

The Sustainable Brands® Conference was founded on the belief that unleashing the best of our human ingenuity and innovation can change the shape of business, and with it, the world. Our desire is to spark new ideas by connecting people from different perspectives and disciplines with each other in an optimistic, collaborative environment to create a shared vision of what’s possible. It’s about replenishing the world through better brands.

This conference will allow attendees to share, understand and discover best practices from prominent world brands; and act as a platform for an exchange of ideas.

The Environmental, Social And
Governance Index By Bursa Malaysia

In 2014, Bursa Malaysia Bhd announced the launch of the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Index. Known locally as the FTSE4Good Bursa Malaysia (F4GBM) Index, it compels Malaysian companies to innovate and adopt more sustainable practices in order to comply with this new mandate. Developed in collaboration with FTSE as part of the globally benchmarked FTSE4Good Index Series, the F4GBM Index is aligned with other leading global ESG frameworks such as the Global Reporting Initiative and the Carbon Disclosure Project.

According to this new mandate, all constituents of the F4GBM Index must meet internationally benchmarked criteria that measure things such as the effort put into environmental conservation, the impact of social responsibility initiatives on the community, as well as the practice of good governance through responsible and ethical decision-making.

The index also forces companies to look at value from a new perspective – one that takes into consideration non-financial aspects such as a company’s environmental and societal initiatives. The F4GBM Index is not only in line with the Prime Minister’s vision in Budget 2014, but is also the latest step in Bursa Malaysia’s sustainability roadmap.
