Kent has 28 years of work and research experience in sub-Saharan Africa, working with international NGOs and the public sector on the intersections of culture, organizational strategy and behavior, monitoring and evaluation, power dynamics, and public-private-nonprofit sector partnering and collaboration to attack wicked problems. He is current an Associate Professor with a joint appointment in the MBA and Development Practice and Policy programs at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Monterey. His US domestic work and research focuses on social justice and movement organization governance, gender and homelessness, economic justice and community capital, and university-community partnerships. He is a co-founder of the Community Solutions Lab in Monterey County.
