About Dee Caffari
is a British sailor and ocean health advocate.
A two-time veteran of The Ocean Race, Caffari recently led the Turn the Tide on Plastic team, supported by UN Environment, to take the message of plastic pollution around the planet and spark a global movement for ocean health.
A passionate pioneer for equality and diversity, Caffari’s Turn the Tide on Plastic crew was a 50/50 male/female split, and she previously competed in 2014-15 as part of the all-female Team SCA. In 2006, Caffari became the first female sailor to race around the world solo, ‘the wrong way’ (against prevailing winds and currents) – and upon completing the Vendée Globe in 2008-09, she became the first female to race solo around the world in both directions.
