About Donald Thomson

Canadian-born builder, entrepreneur, and regenerative designer, Donald Thomson heads the Center for Regenerative Design & Collaboration, or CRDC, which he founded in 2010 ,as a free classical music program for under-privileged rural children which eventually expanded into a volunteer based beach clean-up program in Costa Rica.
He is a disciple of biomimicry and of learning from nature and its regenerative teachings. Donald is a long-time champion of affordable housing for the underprivileged having worked across South America.

CRDC has evolved into a diverse, multidisciplinary group that has developed a series of design protocols and products exclusively dedicated to being zero-waste and regenerative in purpose and nature. Balancing, environment, community, and industry needs into product design.

CRDC has created a regenerative business model called REAP for “Recover. Enrich. Appreciate. Prosper.” Its goal, to make the waste stream of one industry become the value stream of another.
where the sum of the output greater than the sum of all the inputs and finally where consumption becomes regenerative.
In partnership with Pedregal – Costa Rica’s leading Concrete manufacturer, Donald has created an exemplary platform whereby single-use plastics, “tragic plastic”, from industrial, commercial and domestic sources, may be transitioned into a supply stream for high-quality construction materials while providing a solution to two of the world’s most pressing issues, the recovery of waste plastics from the environment and the global housing deficit.”

CRDC is currently collaborating globally with various industrial sectors and public entities to develop commercially viable “end of life” solutions to resolve our un-managed plastic contamination problem and will be launching their Global Investment Fund at SB Oceans.

When Donald is not busy, which isn’t often he can be found snorkeling in the beautiful Costa Rican Ocean or drinking Coffee in his little piece of Paradise.
