Christie Stephenson is the Executive Director of the Peter P. Dhillon Centre for Business Ethics at the University of British Columbia’s Sauder School of Business.
Prior to joining UBC Sauder in 2016, she spent more than 15 years at leading socially responsible and impact investing firms including Sustainalytics and NEI Investments (Ethical Funds). She previously worked in politics, government and the non-profit sector.
Christie also has more than two decades of diverse board experience, having served as a director of cooperatives, non-profit organizations and private companies in diverse industries and ranging from startup phase to $100 million in annual revenue. She is currently a director of Canadian Business for Social Responsibility (CBSR) and the Canadian Centre for International Justice, and a governance committee member at BlueShore Financial.
She is a frequent speaker to industry and public audiences on topics related to governance, corporate social responsibility and responsible investing, and lectures at both business and law schools on related subjects. She has provided training to lawyers, accountants, corporate secretaries, investment managers and pension trustees. She teaches social finance at UBC Sauder School of Business.
She has been interviewed, quoted and/or had her work published in the Globe and Mail, CBC Radio, Report on Business Magazine, Business in Vancouver, Radio-Canada (French CBC), The Tyee, Le Devoir, La Presse, Journal de Montreal, Corporate Governance Review, Corporate Knights, and the book 50 Best Ethical Stocks for Canadians, among others.
Christie has an undergraduate degree from University of Victoria and a graduate degree from McGill University.
