DALLAS, TX – His name clearly has the word “Angel” in it, but Andre Angel would be the first to say that he’s not the one to thank – that the thousands of diners who have redeemed offers and chosen to provide a meal for someone simply by clicking a button on their phone are the real heroes. But it’s hard not to thank the man who has taken what seemed to be a great idea, a novel way to battle hunger, and used his software skills to put it directly into the hands of people who can make a change. When you allow them to help, give them a way to be charitable and make a change, he says, people will do it. “I believe in people,” says Angel. “I know that together, we can end hunger.” The platform that Angel developed, a free app called TangoTab, is the latest in a series of great ideas in which Angel has been integral that make a change in society. With more than 27 years of global entrepreneurial and executive experience in enterprise software, information technology, telecommunications and sales, some of Angel’s initiatives have changed the way business is done.
In addition to TangoTab, Angel has founded over a dozen software and healthcare startups with numerous successful exists. Among them, he founded Curis Functional Health, an advanced concept in healthcare, he co-founded CODEKKO Software, a leader in server optimization and application performance; Servoyant, a unification SaaS platform for proactive, self-healing device and IT infrastructure management; WorkMeter, a SaaS employee productivity quantification and management solution; and NTR North America, the global leader in clientless remote support software, which was recently acquired by ASG. Previously, he transformed Expertcity Inc., the maker of GoToMeeting, from a consumer product company into a profitable Enterprise solution provider, which was sold to Citrix. Prior to Expertcity, Andre founded and served as president and CEO of Elastic Edge Inc., a content delivery company that solved last-mile problems in the delivery of large content to millions of end-users, which was acquired by BackWeb Technologies.
Before Andre’s involvement in enterprise software companies, he served as Global Vice President of Sales and e-Business at Nortel Networks. As Nortel’s youngest executive, Andre held various leadershippositions where he developed a reputation for his entrepreneurial, creative, strategic and operational skills. He is credited with setting the vision for the transformation of Nortel Networks into e-Business, then creating and leading Nortel’s $9.6 billion in electronic commerce business. Andre also served as the CIO of Nortel’s Service Providers, $17 billion division. He successfully started several businesses within the company, including Nortel’s Professional Services organization that grew to over $1 billion. He also initiated and led the Alternate Software Delivery program and managed its growth to $450 million within three years.
Angel is a classically trained concert pianist who fluently speaks numerous languages. He is a graduate of the University of Toronto and resides in Plano, Texas.
