Join Buy Social Canada for a walking tour to visit a variety of local Vancouver social enterprises who are making gains in changing how businesses and individuals’ purchasing power create positive social impacts within their communities.
The tour will begin at the Vancouver Convention Centre West and will guide attendees to Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside neighborhood, where many of the social enterprises are located. Tour attendees will have the opportunity to visit the actual social enterprise locations, as well as hear presentations from the owners and employees of each social enterprise to learn first hand about the work they do, and the opportunities and benefits they provide to Vancouver’s inner city community.
Attendees will be treated to a lunch and a couple of small gifts provided by some of the social enterprises participating in the tour. Along the tour, Buy Social Canada staff and their community partners will educate attendees about the what, why, and how of social procurement, and demonstrate how social procurement can be a tool for companies to create a sustainable impact in their community.
