In recent years many companies have made public commitments about achieving zero net deforestation by the year 2020. While admirable and to be commended, we are fast approaching the deadline and many companies are experiencing real life challenges both within the supply chain and on the forest floor. In this panel we discuss openly the sustainability ‘elephant in the room’ as some companies may not make their already ambitious targets in time. Using a solutions-based approach we will identify clear steps companies can take to accelerate progress to reach their goals faster. We will discuss harnessing the latest technologies, working in conjunction with competitors and hear case studies from companies that are achieving success, as well as earnestly grappling with the inherent challenges.
