Paul Bakus is President of Nestlé Corporate Affairs based in Washington, D.C., where he leads the company’s U.S. public engagement efforts. He is responsible for public affairs, communications and government relations as well as scientific, regulatory and nutrition affairs.

As the world’s largest Nutrition, Health and Wellness Company, Nestlé is committed to doing more to enhance quality of life and contribute to a healthier future, while ensuring the company’s long-term financial success. This Creating Shared Value approach is the model for how Nestlé does business. Each year, Nestlé in the U.S. publicly communicates progress made in meeting its commitments on nutrition, health and wellness, environmental sustainability and social impact in its Creating Shared Value report, which Paul also oversees.

Paul began his 29-year Nestlé career as a Sales Management Trainee for the Nestlé Carnation Company. He later held numerous marketing roles for a variety of iconic brands in other Nestlé divisions including PetCare and Prepared Foods.

In 2003, he was named Vice President Operations Zone Americas at Nestlé’s corporate headquarters in Vevey, Switzerland. In that role, he reported to Paul Bulcke, who went on to become the global CEO for Nestlé, S.A. and now serves as the company’s Chairman. Paul later returned to the U.S. and was promoted to General Manager of Nestlé USA’s Baking Division and then served as President of the Nestlé Pizza Division before moving into his current position in January 2014.

Paul serves as Chairman for the Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Boys and Girls Clubs of America’s Northeast Region. He is Co-Chair of the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine Roundtable on Obesity Solutions CEO Innovation Collaborative.

Paul is a native Californian who earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Southern California.
